Health Care Market

Meeting complex challenges

Turner Engineering has many years of experience in the health care field, and long-standing clients who turn to us again and again for our ability to design systems that address their needs, on time and on budget.

Clients rely on our deep familiarity with the special code requirements associated with health care projects, and appreciate our focus on designing user-friendly facilities that are flexible and easy to use. We’re constantly thinking about how the facility will be used, and ways to make it efficient for staff.

A wide range of experience

We have experience with a wide variety of medical facilities, each of which has unique and challenging requirements:

  • Operating Rooms
  • Post Anesthesia Care Units
  • Cardiac Cath labs
  • Medical Imaging
  • Radiation Oncology
  • Dialysis
  • Chemotherapy Infusion
  • Sleep Disorder Centers

Many of our health care projects are renovations of older facilities, which present unique challenges.

What do you do when the existing structure in an older facility doesn’t provide enough space for the systems required for today’s high-tech environments? That’s the moment when we tap into our creativity to make it possible—and affordable.

Turner designed the systems necessary to install this PET scanner, which requires a room shielded with a half-inch of lead.

Expertise in budgeting

The systems involved in health care facilities are much more expensive than those found in most other facilities. We have a solid understanding of the costs involved in health care construction, and you can rely on us for assistance during your internal approval and budgeting processes. Our experience allows us to surface hidden problems before the scope is finalized.

Understanding the 24/7 needs of health care

We are frequently faced with replacing a critical system while maintaining the occupancy of the space, as downtime is not an option. We have designed phasing methods to temporarily use other existing systems to maintain a space while systems are being replaced, making it possible for our work to be done without major disruptions to facilities and people.
